Senior System Firmware Engineer

Role Summary

Develop and deliver UEFI/BIOS firmware for NVIDIA GPU-based client products. Work on firmware design, implementation, testing, and delivery while collaborating with hardware teams, security, QA, and global firmware teams.

Experience Level

Senior - typically 8+ years of relevant firmware, BIOS, or embedded systems experience as an individual contributor.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include designing, implementing, testing, and delivering system firmware for client platforms.

• Design and implement performance-optimized UEFI/BIOS solutions using industry standards.
• Collaborate with global BIOS/UEFI developers and partner with hardware, ODMs, and vendors on platform design and validation.
• Instrument code for coverage, write and automate unit tests, and maintain unit test reports.
• Produce software quality reports using static analysis, code coverage, and CPU load metrics.
• Work with security teams to align firmware with product security goals.
• Influence hardware design by reviewing HW architecture and schematics.
• Work with QA/Test architects to develop test tools and automation for system software and firmware qualification.

Must-have:

• Domain expertise in System BIOS (UEFI) firmware development on x86 or ARM platforms.
• Strong experience with IBVs or EDK2 firmware architecture.
• Proven track record of end-to-end delivery of client products from definition to customer deployment.
• Solid understanding of low-level interfaces between BIOS/UEFI and OS: I2C, SPI, PCIe (including enumeration), JTAG, and platform-level I/O.
• Experience with C/C++ development; scripting with bash or Python; debugging in embedded Linux and Windows environments.
• Experience working closely with hardware teams, ODMs, and vendors.
• Strong written and oral communication, teamwork, and a self-starting work ethic.
• 8+ years of relevant experience as an individual contributor.

Nice-to-have:

• Proven record delivering BIOS/UEFI for ARM-based client products.
• Familiarity with IBV solutions and vendor integration.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
