Senior System and Application Engineer
Role Summary
The Senior System and Application Engineer develops and maintains software solutions for NXP wireless connectivity SoCs (Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth/BLE, 802.15.4). The role focuses on firmware and system‑level software: design, implementation, debugging, and customer support during evaluation and integration.
The role works with product, sales and field application teams to resolve customer issues and influence future product requirements.
Experience Level
Senior — typically 6+ years of professional experience as indicated in the posting.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include development, debugging, and customer support for wireless connectivity software stacks on SoC platforms.
- Design, implement and unit test software solutions for Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth and IoT (802.15.4) on current and upcoming SoCs.
- Investigate and fix customer‑reported bugs; implement enhancements to existing features.
- Debug issues across different platforms and provide technical root‑cause analysis.
- Provide technical support to customers during evaluation and integration of wireless solutions.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Sales and Field Application Engineers to capture customer use cases and influence product direction.
- Work independently on tasks from requirements through design, implementation and testing; coordinate with cross‑functional teams.
Requirements
Must‑have technical skills, plus preferred skills where noted.
- Must-have: Strong experience in embedded systems and system software, including RTOS and Linux (kernel internals).
- Must-have: Proficient in C programming and low‑level debugging.
- Must-have: Good understanding of networking components such as TCP/IP.
- Must-have: Exposure to ARM processor architecture.
- Must-have: Ability to work independently, handle end‑to‑end tasks, and collaborate across teams; strong communication skills.
- Nice-to-have: Background in Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, or 802.15.4 protocols.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with SDIO, PCIe or USB bus interfaces.
Education Requirements
MS/ME/M.Tech in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical discipline with 6+ years of experience is required; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
