Senior Switch Silicon Security Architect

Role Summary

Join the Networking AI Platforms Security group to define end-to-end security for switch silicon, firmware, networking protocols, and management stacks. This role partners with architecture, engineering, product, and customer teams to shape security from design through validation, manufacturing, and deployment.

Experience Level

Senior - typically 7+ years of relevant experience in silicon security, SoC architecture, embedded systems security, or related fields.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include designing and driving security architecture across switch platforms and representing the company in external initiatives.

  • Research, design, and lead implementation of hardware and software security architectures for switch platforms.
  • Develop threat models and define end-to-end security architectures spanning silicon, firmware, protocols, and management stacks.
  • Partner with hardware, software, research, and product teams to set strategic direction for switch and fabric-level security.
  • Define and drive multi-generation security roadmaps for switch silicon and networking protocols.
  • Work directly with customers to translate security requirements into component and system architectures.
  • Represent the company in industry standards bodies and collaborate with external partners on interoperability and standards.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; separate items list optional strengths.

  • 7+ years of experience in silicon security, SoC architecture, embedded systems security, or related fields.
  • Proven hands-on experience architecting and implementing hardware roots of trust, secure boot, attestation, secure lifecycle and debug controls, and key provisioning.
  • Strong foundation in applied cryptography at scale, including PKI, key and identity management, post-quantum considerations, and encryption technologies.
  • Hands-on experience designing secure hardware–firmware interfaces for SoCs and embedded devices.
  • Deep understanding of high-performance networking protocols and their end-to-end security implications.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills with a track record of driving initiatives across organizations.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience influencing industry security standards or collaborating with cloud customers and external partners.
  • Track record of moving security technologies from research and architecture into production silicon.
  • Expertise securing high-performance networking fabrics (Ethernet, InfiniBand, NVLink) and familiarity with confidential computing and TEE architectures.

Education Requirements

B.Sc., M.Sc., or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
