Job Title

Senior Substrates Development and Ramp Engineer

Role Summary

Lead technical efforts to develop and ramp substrate materials and processes for high-volume semiconductor manufacturing. Provide engineering support to improve supplier performance, yield, quality, and cost across the supply chain.

Work with cross-functional teams and suppliers to validate process windows, define inspection and control methods, and close gaps between roadmap requirements and manufacturing capability.

Experience Level

Senior β€” minimum 8 years of experience in semiconductor development or manufacturing (Fab, substrate, or assembly) is required.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include technical leadership for substrate development, supplier engagement, and production ramp activities.

  • Define material inspection methodologies and process/control approaches for substrates.
  • Conduct studies on cost control, process control, and production yield; implement improvements.
  • Support long-range product and supply-chain roadmaps by defining next-generation methodology capabilities.
  • Explore and benchmark emerging industry technologies; recommend technology adoption strategies.
  • Track supply/demand trends and perform root-cause analysis for supply-chain issues.
  • Lead supplier selection for new business and drive product and purchase specification content.
  • Perform alternate sourcing and risk-mitigation for single-sourced commodities.
  • Establish control standards, define KPIs, monitor performance, and drive corrective actions.
  • Drive supplier process-window validation and supplier quality/reliability/yield improvements.
  • Lead quality excursion management and failure-mode analysis with suppliers.

Requirements

Key technical and interpersonal requirements (must-have unless noted).

  • Proven supplier management and vendor development experience in high-volume manufacturing.
  • Strong quality-management and analytical problem-solving skills; experience driving root-cause resolution.
  • In-depth knowledge of substrate manufacturing processes, raw materials, packaging technologies, and process/quality control systems.
  • Ability to influence technical and business stakeholders within HVM (high-volume manufacturing) environments.
  • Fluent business-level English and strong presentation and communication skills for internal and supplier interactions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • (Nice-to-have) Experience with supplier process-window validation tools and statistical process control.

Education Requirements

BS, MS, or PhD in science or engineering (relevant technical fields). The role requires a minimum of 8 years of semiconductor development or manufacturing experience (Fab, Substrate, or Assembly).
