Job Title

Senior Standard Cell Library Engineer

Role Summary

Intel's Foundry Standard Cell team is hiring a Senior Design Engineer to design, characterize, and validate standard cells for advanced process nodes. The role runs end-to-end experiments and flows to produce robust standard cell collateral that meets power, performance, area (PPA), manufacturability, and cost targets.

Experience Level

Senior-level; posting lists a minimum of 2+ years of relevant experience for initial consideration.

Responsibilities

Accountabilities for this role include design, validation, and delivery of standard cell solutions and experiments.

  • Define, implement, characterize, and validate standard cell designs to meet PPA, manufacturability, and cost targets.
  • Perform full physical design flow tasks: circuit, layout, extraction, characterization, timing, congestion, power, signal integrity, and reliability optimization.
  • Plan and execute fast turn-around experiments; run experiments end-to-end and drive data-driven decisions across teams.
  • Generate, validate, and release custom standard cell collateral on demand.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional standard cell collateral teams and review work for compliance with design, manufacturing, and quality requirements.
  • Communicate results and technical trade-offs clearly to peers, working groups, and technical leadership.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for initial consideration; preferred items noted.

  • Minimum 2+ years' experience in one or more: standard cell layout, standard cell abstract modeling, standard cell characterization, or ASIC design and verification.
  • Hands-on experience running end-to-end flows for generating and validating standard cell collateral.
  • Experience with one or more of these EDA tools: Cadence Virtuoso, Synopsys Custom Compiler, Cadence Abstract Generator, Synopsys PrimeLib, Cadence Liberate, Synopsys Fusion Compiler, Cadence Innovus, Cadence Tempus, Synopsys PrimeTime, Synopsys HSpice, Synopsys StarRC, Synopsys ICV, Cadence Pegasus, Siemens Calibre.
  • Ability to design experiments, analyze results, and present findings to technical and management audiences.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills tailored to different audiences.
  • Preferred: Unix proficiency and basic scripting/software skills (csh, bash, Perl, Python) are highly valued.

Education Requirements

Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Nanoscience, Microelectronics, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM field. Preferred: Post-graduate degree in the same fields. The posting also allows equivalent practical experience obtained via industry work, internships, or relevant coursework.
