Senior Staff Validation Engineer

Role Summary

Lead post-silicon validation activities for analog, digital, mixed-signal, and power-management ICs at Renesas' new Design Center in Catania. Work within a multidisciplinary global team to verify electrical, functional, and performance specifications and support New Product Introduction (NPI) from first silicon to production release.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The posting requests approximately 8–12 years of relevant industry experience in power conversion, power management, semiconductor applications, or related system design.

Responsibilities

Technical and program leadership for post-silicon validation across products and platforms. Key responsibilities include:

• Define validation strategy, methodologies, and comprehensive validation plans for complex mixed-signal and power-management ICs.
• Drive validation execution: coverage, requirements traceability, risk identification, and mitigation to meet schedule and quality targets.
• Design and build custom evaluation boards and supporting hardware for silicon characterization.
• Develop automated validation frameworks and measurement scripts (Python) to enable repeatable test execution and laboratory automation.
• Operate and apply laboratory instrumentation for characterization (oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, source meters, DMMs, waveform generators, logic analyzers, thermal equipment).
• Investigate, debug, document, and track silicon and system-level issues with Design, Applications, Firmware, Product Engineering, and Quality teams.
• Assess product readiness, establish validation metrics, and provide release recommendations to engineering and business leadership.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to validation engineers and cross-functional project teams.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; concise list of core qualifications.

• Proven technical leadership driving validation across multiple programs and product generations.
• Hands-on bench validation, characterization, and debugging of complex hardware systems.
• Practical experience with laboratory instrumentation and automated test solutions.
• Proficiency in Python for test automation and measurement scripting.
• Deep experience in board-level analog and digital circuit design and PCB schematic creation.
• Extensive experience supporting NPI from first silicon to production release.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; effective cross-cultural collaboration in multisite environments.
• Flexible to undertake occasional international travel and fluent in written and spoken English.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field. The posting also specifies approximately 8–12 years of relevant industry experience in power conversion, power management, semiconductor applications, or related system design.
