Senior Staff Technology Manager/Architect - Functional Safety (f/m/d)
Role Summary
Define the industrial functional safety software strategy and technical architecture for next-generation industrial automation and robotics products. Work across product management, engineering, customers, certification authorities, and partners to translate market and customer needs into modular, certifiable software platforms and technical roadmaps.

Senior-level. Role expects senior leadership experience in functional safety and software architecture; typically 7+ years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
The role leads technical strategy, architecture, and stakeholder alignment for industrial functional safety solutions.
- Define software strategy and architecture for next-generation industrial functional safety solutions.
- Design modular, scalable, and certifiable software platforms for industrial functional safety.
- Translate customer and market requirements into technical roadmaps and value propositions.
- Collaborate with functional safety stakeholders to establish a cross-platform safety strategy and architecture.
- Engage early with certification authorities to align architecture and compliance approaches.
- Guide development teams from architecture through implementation and customer enablement.
- Monitor functional safety standards, market trends, and competitor activity.
- Represent the company in customer, partner, standards body, and ecosystem discussions.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience.
- Deep knowledge of industrial functional safety standards such as IEC/EN 61508, IEC 61800-5-2, IEC 62061, ISO 10218-1.
- Proven expertise in functional safety application design for industrial automation and robotics.
- Experience converting technical and market requirements into technology strategies and delivering implementation success.
- Strong software architecture and platform-thinking with experience in modular and certifiable software design.
- Experience working with certification authorities and aligning compliance strategies.
- Familiarity with industrial automation technologies, including industrial networking and security.
- Excellent stakeholder management, customer focus, and communication skills.
- Result-oriented, self-organized, and able to work independently.

Education Requirements
M.Sc. in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (or equivalent) with additional expertise in software development. Equivalent practical experience is acceptable.
