Senior Staff System Engineer

Role Summary

Work on DDR5/DDR6 signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI) across die, package, and board levels. Join a product design team to perform simulation, analysis, lab validation, and cross-functional alignment to meet SI/PI targets.

Experience Level

Senior — 5+ years of experience in signal integrity (as stated in the posting).

Responsibilities

Provide SI/PI analysis, modeling, and lab verification to support DDR5/DDR6 product development and related package and PDN designs.

• Simulate, analyze, and improve signal integrity and power integrity at chip, package, and board levels.
• Align SI/PI design targets with cross-functional teams and support trade-off decisions.
• Support package, I/O buffer, and die/package PDN design and review SI/PI performance for die and package designs.
• Create simulation benches for pre-layout and post-layout SI/PI simulations.
• Extract S-parameter, RLC, and transmission-line models tailored for accuracy, bandwidth, and runtime needs.
• Perform lab measurements to verify SI/PI performance and support troubleshooting and debug activities.

Requirements

Key technical skills and experience required or preferred.

• Must-have: 5+ years of experience in signal integrity.
• Must-have: Strong knowledge of transmission-line theory and electromagnetic field theory, including reflection, crosstalk, simultaneous switching noise, and power noise.
• Must-have: Experience in SI simulation and analysis for DDR or other multi-drop/multi-loading systems.
• Must-have: Knowledge of semiconductor package and circuit design and chip/package PDN design.
• Nice-to-have: Understanding of I/O buffer architecture and I/O analog design.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with 2D/2.5D/3D model extraction tools, HFSS, and Cadence/Sigrity tools.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with circuit simulators such as ADS, HSPICE, or Spectre.
• Preferred: Experience with lab measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes, TDR, and VNA.

Education Requirements

Master's or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required.
