Job Title
Senior Staff/Staff Engineer, Physical Design
Role Summary
Lead physical-design engineering for advanced-node SoC development at Mythic’s Bangalore design center. Work across RTL, DFT, analog IP integration, and foundry flows to drive first-pass silicon success.
The role emphasizes ownership of PD methodology, execution of PnR/STA/signoff flows, automation, and mentoring engineering teams to deliver multi-million-gate designs.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Expectation: 10+ years of experience in Physical Design.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include hands-on PD work, methodology development, and team technical leadership.
- Develop and improve RTL-to-GDSII PD methodologies using industry-standard tools (Cadence, Synopsys, Mentor).
- Lead hands-on work in synthesis, formal equivalence, place & route, static timing analysis, and signoff activities (DRC/LVS/IR/EM) at module and top level.
- Own module-level physical design and support top-level integration with RTL, DFT, and foundry partners.
- Provide technical mentorship and coordinate PD team interactions to ensure successful SoC implementation and tapeouts.
- Drive PPA optimization, including low-power clock-tree design and multi-corner timing closure.
- Promote an automation-first approach; develop scripts and flow automation to improve team efficiency.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience followed by selective nice-to-have items.
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in Physical Design with a strong working knowledge of the full PD flow.
- Deep expertise in one or more areas: synthesis, formal equivalence, PnR, STA, and signoff (DRC/LVS/IR/EM).
- Proven track record of successful tapeouts for multi-million-gate, multi-hierarchy designs at advanced technology nodes.
- Strong experience in low-power design techniques and achieving timing closure across corners.
- Practical automation skills using TCL, Perl, or Python to build and maintain PD methodologies and flows.
- Ability to collaborate with RTL, DFT, and fabrication teams; strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Nice-to-have: knowledge of chiplet-based design constraints; experience with Sub-10nm processes; hands-on experience with Cadence toolsets.
Education Requirements
B.Tech, M.Tech, or PhD in Electrical Engineering (EE) or Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE).
