Senior/Staff/Sr Staff Engineer, Validation

Role Summary

Owner of bench validation, silicon debug and automation for Power Management ICs (PMICs). Work within the Power Business Unit to develop and run industry-standard tests, define test equipment and lab setups, analyze results, and report findings to systems and design teams.

Role includes hands-on validation, debug, automation and the opportunity to technically lead and mentor a small team.

Experience Level

Responsibilities

Key day-to-day responsibilities.

• Own end-to-end bench validation, silicon debug and reporting for multiple PMICs.
• Develop and automate bench tests and equipment control for switching converters and PMIC verification.
• Write and maintain bench test programs (Python, C, LabVIEW) and debug ATE programs.
• Define test-equipment requirements, help set up labs from scratch, and troubleshoot equipment-related issues.
• Maximize bench and equipment utilization through automation, standardization and reuse.
• Perform ATE-to-bench correlation and drive correlation activities independently.
• Use FPGAs to test digital functions and emulate system behavior for verification.
• Analyze test data, prepare documentation, waveforms and reports, and present results to systems and design teams.
• Technically coach and mentor new graduates and junior engineers; project schedule planning for test development and execution.

Requirements

• Must-have: Hands-on bench validation and debug experience for mixed-signal ICs, specifically PMICs.
• Must-have: Proven experience automating test equipment and bench procedures.
• Must-have: Proficiency writing and debugging test code in Python, C and LabVIEW; familiarity debugging ATE programs.
• Must-have: Experience using FPGAs for test and digital emulation.
• Must-have: Experience with ATE-bench correlation and driving correlation activities.
• Must-have: Familiarity with power-chip communication protocols (SPMI, PMBUS, SVI3, SVID) and I2C.
• Must-have: Practical experience with validation equipment (power supplies, load slammer, oscilloscopes and probes, multimeters, relays, analog switches) and board-to-computer interfaces.
• Must-have: Ability to build basic circuits on breadboards and design simple PCBs for experimentation.
• Must-have: Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and cross-geography collaboration skills; ability to meet tight schedules.
• Nice-to-have: Experience minimizing bench test cost through standardization, reuse and process improvements.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
