Senior Staff Software Development Engineer

Role Summary

Join Lattice's Penang team to design and develop FPGA software tools and DSP-centric foundation IP. The role focuses on RTL/IP development, functional simulation, timing analysis, and integration with software/tools flows.

The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams on requirement analysis, feature scoping, development, testing, and release activities to maintain and improve product quality and test coverage.

Experience Level

Senior — 8+ years of experience in IP design or ASIC/FPGA engineering.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include design, implementation, verification, and integration of DSP IP and related tooling.

• Design and implement DSP-centric foundation IP blocks (multipliers, accumulators, FIR/IIR primitives, arithmetic units) for FPGA integration.
• Develop RTL (VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog) for DSP hard macros and programmable DSP slices.
• Perform functional simulation and static timing analysis to meet correctness and performance objectives.
• Collaborate with software and tools teams to ensure IP is correctly modeled in simulation libraries and synthesis flows.
• Maintain existing software product tools and drive improvements to increase test coverage and product quality.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and conditions for the role.

• 8+ years of experience in IP design or ASIC/FPGA engineering.
• Strong proficiency in RTL design using Verilog, VHDL, or SystemVerilog.
• Practical experience with DSP theory and algorithms (filtering, FFT, fixed-point arithmetic, sample-rate conversion).
• Experience with functional simulation and timing analysis.
• Right to work in Malaysia (must be able to provide satisfactory proof and pass background/reference checks).

Preferred / Nice-to-have:

• Experience with functional verification methodologies (SystemVerilog Assertions, formal verification).
• Familiarity with synthesis and static timing analysis tools (for example: Synopsys Design Compiler, PrimeTime, Radiant, Quartus).
• Working knowledge of FPGA architectures and programmable DSP slice design.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline (as stated in the posting).
