Senior Staff QA / Test Engineer (RTL & FPGA backend tools)
Role Summary
Lead QA and test engineering for FPGA backend tool flows (Radiant/Diamond or similar). Develop and maintain regression suites, design testcases in RTL, analyze failures, and work with product and engineering teams to close issues.
Experience Level
Senior β requires extensive experience (see Requirements). The posting specifies 12+ years in EDA / RTL development / verification.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on validation of FPGA backend tool functionality, automation of test activities, and cross-team defect resolution.
- Develop, maintain, and run regression test suites for backend tools (synthesis, map, place & route, bitgen) across diverse designs.
- Create RTL test designs (Verilog) that represent complex, customer-like scenarios to validate tool behavior.
- Monitor regressions, analyze failures, create defect reports, and drive timely resolution with stakeholders.
- Prepare and execute test plans for new features and tool changes.
- Debug issues using simulation and hardware platforms.
- Automate test processes and leverage modern AI/automation tools to improve coverage and efficiency.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate contribution.
Must-have
- 12+ years experience in EDA, RTL development, or verification.
- Strong understanding of FPGA architectures.
- Experience with FPGA backend tool flows (Radiant, Diamond, Vivado, Synplify, or equivalent).
- Proven ability to write RTL (Verilog) test designs for backend tool validation.
- Strong verbal and written communication; experience coordinating with distributed teams.
Nice-to-have
- Scripting experience (Python, Perl, TCL).
- Experience with high-speed I/O protocols (PCIe, DDR).
Education Requirements
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
