Senior/Staff Product Owner, Smart Manufacturing & AI

Role Summary

The Product Owner will define, prioritize and deliver end-to-end smart manufacturing solutions that apply automation, AI and machine learning to improve Micron manufacturing performance (yield, quality, test coverage and system performance). The role partners across Test Solutions, Product Engineering, Global Quality and data/technical teams to translate domain needs into production-ready systems.

Experience Level

Senior (title indicates senior/staff level). Posting notes at least 3 years' semiconductor industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Accountable for product definition, delivery and adoption of Smart Manufacturing/AI solutions. Typical responsibilities include:

• Lead end-to-end project teams (Data Scientists, Solution Architects, ML Engineers, Data Engineers) to deliver AI-enabled manufacturing solutions.
• Conceptualize, prototype and productize AI/big-data solutions to improve yield, quality and test performance.
• Provide domain expertise on manufacturing, test and quality datasets; identify data gaps and required data sources.
• Translate user needs into business requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria for technical teams.
• Define success metrics (usage, time saved, adoption, NPV, forecast accuracy) and validate outcomes in production.
• Develop business cases, quantify business value and prioritize projects by ROI/impact.
• Work with end users to design requirements and UI mockups/prototypes for technical evaluation.
• Ensure enterprise-grade standards: data governance, security, scalability and platform alignment.

Requirements

Core must-have skills and qualifications followed by useful but non-mandatory skills.

• Must-have: Minimum ~3 years' experience in the semiconductor industry (assembly, test, product quality/reliability experience preferred).
• Must-have: Strong analytical and conceptual thinking; excellent verbal and written communication.
• Must-have: Ability to translate domain problems into business requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Must-have: Experience managing Jira/Confluence (features, epics, stories, sprint planning, tracking dashboards).
• Must-have: Ability to build relationships, influence stakeholders and lead cross-functional teams.
• Must-have: Experience defining success metrics and supervising outcomes through production.
• Nice-to-have: In-depth knowledge of product, probe, assembly and test flows for NAND/DRAM/HBM.
• Nice-to-have: Prior exposure to data science, machine learning operations (MLOps), data flow management or cloud platforms.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with prototyping UIs and technical evaluation of business ideas.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field (as stated in the posting).
