Senior Staff Product Engineer
RenesasJob Title
Senior Staff Product Engineer
Role Summary
Lead product engineering for advanced semiconductor power products through the full lifecycle: silicon bring-up, characterization, qualification, production release, and sustaining. Drive product quality, yield optimization, reliability, and customer issue resolution across cross-functional teams.
Experience Level
Senior - 10+ years of experience in semiconductor product engineering, test engineering, or related roles.
Responsibilities
The role requires technical leadership in product qualification, reliability, yield improvement, and cross-functional problem resolution.
- Own product engineering across the full lifecycle from silicon bring-up to high-volume production and sustaining.
- Define and execute product qualification strategies aligned to JEDEC and industry standards.
- Plan and interpret reliability stresses (HTOL, HAST/uHAST, TC, ELFR) and associated qualification methods.
- Lead ESD (HBM, CDM) and latch-up qualification, analysis, and failure resolution.
- Perform root-cause analysis and resolve complex product, test, and manufacturing issues.
- Drive yield, test efficiency, product performance, and cost-of-quality improvements.
- Partner with design and test teams to optimize DFT, test coverage, and correlation (bench vs ATE vs system).
- Analyze yield, parametric, and reliability data to identify trends and corrective actions.
- Communicate qualification results and technical findings to stakeholders and senior leadership.
- Mentor junior engineers in statistical techniques, reliability interpretation, and structured problem solving.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience required to perform the role.
- 10+ years in semiconductor product engineering, test engineering, or related roles (power/analog/mixed-signal preferred).
- Deep understanding of product lifecycle (NPI through sustaining) and production environments.
- Strong working knowledge of JEDEC standards (e.g., JESD47, JESD22 series) and industry qualification practices.
- Hands-on experience with ESD qualification (HBM, CDM) and latch-up testing/analysis.
- Experience with reliability stress planning and interpretation (HTOL, HAST, TC, ELFR, etc.).
- Proven track record solving complex technical and yield-related issues; experience with failure analysis and root-cause investigation.
- Strong data-analysis skills (JMP, Python, MATLAB or similar) and statistical analysis expertise (distribution analysis, correlation, limit optimization).
- Experience with ATE, silicon characterization, and production test environments.
- Demonstrated ability to influence engineering decisions and lead cross-functional technical initiatives; strong communication skills.
- Nice-to-have: deep domain knowledge in power semiconductor solutions (POL, hotswap/efuse, driver solutions) and prior leadership/mentorship experience.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Microelectronics Engineering.
