Job Title
Senior/Staff Product Development Engineer, NAND
Role Summary
Responsible for developing and validating test flows and test strategies for Micron's 3D NAND test chips. The role sits in Non-Volatile Engineering (NVE) and collaborates with Test Solutions, Design Engineering, Process Integration, and Yield teams to verify testmodes, automate workflows, and diagnose device issues from pre-silicon simulation through post-silicon validation.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Typical background: 6+ years in VLSI or semiconductor engineering, with experience in mixed-signal design, test, or product development.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include pre- and post-silicon test development, device characterization, and cross-team collaboration to improve yield and debug failures.
- Develop and validate NAND testchip test flows and test strategies.
- Run pre-silicon Verilog (digital) and analog simulations to verify testmodes.
- Define and improve post-silicon testing methods for experimental designs and process/debug issues at R&D and manufacturing sites.
- Perform device characterization and electrical failure analysis (EFA).
- Collaborate with Test Solutions Engineering on test code development and automation.
- Work with Design Engineering on testmode implementation, pre-silicon verification, and post-silicon validation.
- Partner with Process Integration and Yield Engineering to improve die yield and meet critical testchip milestones.
- Leverage AI and automation tools to improve test tools, workflows, and build efficiency.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for successful performance in this role.
Must-have
- 6+ years of experience in VLSI or the semiconductor industry.
- Strong foundation in mixed-signal VLSI: analog circuits, digital logic, and RTL design.
- Experience with bench testing equipment (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, Nextest Magnum or similar).
- Programming/scripting skills (examples: C/C++, Python, Perl); familiarity with Verilog and Verilog-AMS.
- Knowledge of firmware/assembly-level programming.
- Data analysis, statistical methods, and problem-solving skills applied to device/testing data.
- Effective communication, presentation skills, and ability to collaborate across functions.
- Self-motivated with a track record of partnering successfully with cross-functional teams.
Nice-to-have
- Knowledge of Flash memory architecture and operation.
- Experience with Yield3, JMP, or similar statistical/data-analysis tools.
- Familiarity with WREAL or other mixed-signal simulation tools.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Relevant coursework or experience in VLSI, semiconductor process, and semiconductor devices is expected.
