Senior/Staff Process Engineer (Active Alignment)
Role Summary
We are hiring an experienced process engineer to own and optimize active optical alignment processes for transceiver production. The role focuses on alignment equipment, controls, algorithms, epoxy dispensing/curing, fixtures, and yield improvement in a manufacturing environment.
Experience Level
Senior level β minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with optical active alignment for transceivers or related photonic devices.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include running, improving, and qualifying active alignment processes and related equipment to ensure high-yield production.
- Lead and optimize active optical alignment processes for transceiver production.
- Operate, set up, maintain, and qualify active alignment equipment; perform equipment buyoff.
- Develop, implement, and optimize alignment algorithms.
- Manage epoxy dispensing and curing processes used in assembly.
- Design, prototype, and refine fixtures to improve alignment and throughput.
- Troubleshoot equipment control, alignment process, and fixturing issues.
- Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and engineering teams to improve yield and product quality.
- Document processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
Key required skills and experience for successful candidates.
- Must-have: Minimum 5 years experience with optical active alignment for transceivers or related photonic devices.
- Must-have: Hands-on familiarity with active alignment equipment and processes (examples: FAU, lens, isolator, PIC chip) and AA equipment buyoff/qualification.
- Must-have: Practical experience with equipment control (stages, controllers, power meters) and alignment-related instrumentation.
- Must-have: Experience in epoxy dispensing and curing methods for assemblies.
- Must-have: Fixture design experience to support alignment and assembly.
- Must-have: Ability to develop or optimize alignment algorithms and strong analytical/problem-solving skills.
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with MPO connectors, laser sources, and related mechanical parts used in optical transceivers.
