Job Title

Senior/ Staff/ Principal - Silicon Design Validation Engineer

Role Summary

Member of the Silicon Design Validation (SDV) team responsible for development, validation, characterization, and qualification of NAND Flash memory silicon. The role coordinates validation activities across R&D, design, manufacturing, and quality teams and serves as the product-specific technical contact for silicon issues.

Expect hands-on silicon debug, validation plan execution, and cross-functional technical leadership to deliver product specifications and resolve root causes.

Experience Level

Senior-level role; typically requires approximately 8+ years of relevant industry experience.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include planning and executing silicon validation and leading cross-functional resolution of issues.

  • Develop and execute validation, characterization, and qualification plans for NAND silicon products.
  • Define and verify product specifications and validation requirements with R&D, design, manufacturing, and QA teams.
  • Lead technical task forces, take ownership of critical issues, and drive timely root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Perform simulation and debug of silicon signals using bench testing and wafer-probe/tester measurements.
  • Operate and interpret data from bench equipment (oscilloscope, logic analyzer) and production/test systems.
  • Document validation results, present findings to stakeholders, and recommend design or process improvements.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and proven behaviors; nice-to-have items listed separately.

  • Must-have: Strong fundamentals in analog and mixed-signal VLSI design and digital logic/RTL understanding.
  • Must-have: Demonstrated technical leadership and ownership of multi-disciplinary engineering efforts.
  • Must-have: Experience debugging silicon signals and performing bench testing; familiarity with wafer probe and tester measurements.
  • Must-have: Familiarity with Flash memory architecture and operation.
  • Must-have: Programming/scripting fundamentals (Python, C/C++, Perl, Verilog) for automation and data analysis.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience writing testbenches or simulations in SystemVerilog/Verilog/Verilog-AMS and SPICE.
  • Nice-to-have: Hands-on experience with test equipment and EDA/tools such as Teradyne Magnum, ModelSim, Cadence Virtuoso, oscilloscopes.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with device modeling (TCAD, MATLAB) and semiconductor device/fabrication knowledge.

Education Requirements

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field is required (or equivalent practical experience), plus approximately 8 years of relevant experience. Relevant coursework includes VLSI technology, analog/digital circuits, semiconductor process, and device physics.
