Senior Staff Physical Design Engineer
Role Summary
Lead back-end (physical) design and verification for MCU/MPU products for consumer, industrial and IoT applications. Work within the Embedded Processing Product Group to improve quality, performance and cost for next-generation semiconductor products.
Member of a global team (Japan, China, Germany, Vietnam, India) using modern EDA flows and automation/AI-assisted techniques to execute layout and physical verification.

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on placement-and-route and physical verification for MCU/MPU designs.
- Perform placement-and-route (PnR) and layout design using ICC2 / FusionCompiler-BE / Innovus.
- Define floorplans and hierarchical block designs; implement power network and analog routing as required.
- Execute layout verification and signoff checks using Calibre / Pegasus and power integrity checks with Voltus.
- Drive backend design quality, performance, and cost optimization across the product flow.
- Collaborate with global cross-functional teams to integrate backend deliverables into tapeout flow.
- Adopt and apply EDA automation and AI-assisted methods to improve productivity and robustness.
Requirements
Candidates must have practical experience in layout design and verification; listed items below clarify must-have and preferred skills.
- Must-have: Knowledge and hands-on experience in layout (PnR) design and layout verification workflows.
- Preferred / Nice-to-have: Experience with ICC2, FusionCompiler-BE, Innovus, Calibre, Pegasus, Voltus.
- Preferred / Nice-to-have: Experience with EDA toolchains from Cadence, Synopsys, Siemens (or equivalent).
- Preferred / Nice-to-have: Background in MCU/MPU physical design for consumer, industrial or IoT products.
