Responsibilities

The engineer will define and execute product qualification programs and manage reliability activities for optical products.

  • Create and execute product qualification plans and report results to internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Specify, bring up and validate qualification hardware (stress boards) and coordinate with subcontractors and engineering teams.
  • Plan and run stress testing at internal and external labs (HTOL, BDH, HAST, TC, etc.) and manage test subcontractors/vendors.
  • Perform reliability data analysis, predict product lifetime, and maintain FIT/MTBF estimates.
  • Drive failure analysis and root-cause investigations arising from qualification testing.
  • Collaborate on FMEA with design, package and product engineering and implement risk mitigations.
  • Support qualification of new vendors and develop packaging solutions for die products.
  • Prepare internal and customer-facing qualification reports and support ongoing reliability monitoring.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate success.

  • 2+ years in product qualification and reliability testing of optical or optoelectronic semiconductor products.
  • Strong understanding of optical systems: semiconductor lasers, silicon photonic devices, co-packaged or near-package optics, and pluggable transceivers.
  • Deep knowledge of semiconductor components, assembly processes and advanced packaging technologies.
  • Familiarity with qualification standards such as JEDEC, Telcordia (GR-468), and relevant MIL-STD requirements.
  • Experience with reliability stress testing methodologies (HTOL, DH, HAST, TC, HTS, ESD, LU, etc.).
  • Experience with reliability and statistical data analysis; proficiency with tools such as JMP, Minitab or ReliaSoft.
  • Experience automating data collection and processing with Python; familiarity with AI tools is a plus.
  • Experience managing external test labs/subcontractors and coordinating cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication, planning and organizational skills; ability to handle multiple concurrent projects independently.

Nice-to-have:
