Senior Staff IP Design Engineer

Role Summary

Join the Penang FPGA IP team to design and deliver DSP-centric foundation IP for Lattice FPGAs. The role covers RTL implementation, verification, and coordination with software and tools teams to ensure correct modeling, synthesis flows, and production-quality releases.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Requires 10+ years of experience in IP design or ASIC/FPGA engineering.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

• Design and implement DSP-centric foundation IP blocks (multipliers, accumulators, FIR/IIR primitives, arithmetic units) targeted for FPGA integration.
• Develop RTL in Verilog, VHDL, or SystemVerilog for DSP hard macros and programmable DSP slices.
• Perform functional simulation and static timing analysis to meet correctness and performance targets.
• Collaborate with software and tools teams to ensure IP is correctly modeled in simulation libraries and synthesis flows.
• Maintain existing IP/tooling and develop plans to increase test coverage and product quality.
• Contribute to release activities including requirements analysis, feature scoping, development, testing, and validation.

Requirements

Must-have and nice-to-have skills:

• Must-have: 10+ years of IP design or ASIC/FPGA engineering experience.
• Must-have: Strong RTL design skills using Verilog, VHDL, or SystemVerilog.
• Must-have: Practical knowledge of DSP theory and algorithms (filtering, FFT, fixed-point arithmetic, sample-rate conversion).
• Must-have: Experience performing functional simulation and timing analysis for IP blocks.
• Must-have: Experience working with software/tools teams on modeling and synthesis flows.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with verification methodologies (SystemVerilog Assertions, formal verification).
• Nice-to-have: Familiarity with synthesis and static timing tools (e.g., Synopsys Design Compiler, PrimeTime, Radiant, Quartus) and programmable DSP slice design.
• Other: Successful background and reference checks, and proof of right to work in Malaysia are required.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics / Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
