Senior Staff Infrastructure Engineer — AI Database Architecture and Compute
Role Summary
Lead design and operation of compute, storage, and AI-ready knowledge database infrastructure that supports large-scale simulation workloads for semiconductor design teams. Collaborate with IT and infrastructure teams to ensure high availability, performance, and scalability of HPC environments and data platforms.
Responsibilities include architecture, automation, resource optimization, and establishing validation, versioning, and release processes for a knowledge platform that enables AI tooling.

Senior — 5+ years of hands-on experience managing compute infrastructure, HPC environments, or large-scale simulation systems.
Responsibilities
Main responsibilities:
- Manage and optimize compute and disk resources across HPC environments to support large-scale simulation workloads.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and scale compute infrastructure; diagnose bottlenecks and resolve issues proactively.
- Develop and implement resource utilization strategies including job scheduling (LSF/Slurm), load balancing, and storage optimization.
- Build automation scripts and tools in Python, Tcl, or similar languages to integrate with simulation workflows.
- Architect and maintain a structured, AI-ready knowledge database connecting specifications, code, tests, and design artifacts.
- Establish build, validation, and release processes for the knowledge platform with automated checks, versioned builds, staging, and rollback plans.
- Design scalable, multi-project infrastructure with shared core schema and isolated project-specific configurations.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 5+ years managing compute infrastructure, HPC environments, or large-scale simulation systems.
- Deep knowledge of job schedulers such as LSF or Slurm and experience optimizing workload distribution and resource allocation.
- Strong proficiency in Python, Tcl, or similar scripting languages for automation and tooling.
- In-depth understanding of AI models/LLMs and how they consume structured data; experience designing databases for AI-driven tools.
- Experience with database design, schema modeling, data pipelines, continuous ingestion, validation, and versioning; graph databases or semantic models a plus.
- Hands-on experience with storage systems, file systems, and disk I/O optimization in HPC contexts.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; able to work independently and provide technical leadership.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
