Senior Staff Front End Automation Engineer
Advanced Micro DevicesJob Title
Senior Staff Front End Automation Engineer
Role Summary
Senior individual-contributor to define and advance front-end EDA flows including RTL lint/design-quality, static timing analysis and constraints, and RTL quality signoff (CDC/RDC). The role combines hands-on engineering with ownership of the flow roadmap and modernization using AI/ML and agent-based automation.
Works closely with design, CAD, IP, and library teams to enable adoption, maintain regression/CI pipelines, and drive release strategy for front-end verification and signoff.
Experience Level
Senior - preferred 12+ years in silicon design automation, front-end methodology, or RTL flow development.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include:
- Define technical direction, architecture, and roadmap for front-end flows (lint/design-quality, STA/SDC, RTL quality signoff).
- Modernize flows using AI/ML and agentic automation for lint triage, timing/constraint debug, and regression analysis.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and methodology guidance to design teams on flow issues and ruleset decisions.
- Lead user enablement: low-power (UPF) and timing-flow enablement, best practices, and documentation.
- Partner with design, CAD, IP, and library teams and maintain regression/CI (e.g., nightly pipelines) to ensure flow quality.
- Integrate and validate industry front-end EDA tools within the flow and support release strategy and enablement.
Requirements
Required and desired skills for effective performance in this role.
- Must-have: Extensive practical experience with front-end flows: RTL lint/design-quality, static timing analysis and SDC development, RTL quality signoff (CDC/RDC), and low-power (UPF) enablement.
- Must-have: Proven track record in front-end flow development and ownership; strong scripting skills (Tcl, Python, Perl) and experience with flow infrastructure and regression/CI tools (e.g., Jenkins).
- Must-have: Hands-on experience with industry front-end EDA tools (Synopsys, Cadence) for STA, lint, and CDC; strong cross-functional communication and collaboration skills.
- Desired: Experience applying AI/ML or LLM-based agents to EDA flows or design automation to improve triage, debug, or regression analysis.
- Desired: FPGA/ASIC/SoC experience in advanced nodes and familiarity with Perforce/ICManage and centralized IP/library release processes.
Education Requirements
Not specified.
