Senior Staff, Ethernet Switch ASIC Design
QualcommJob Title
Senior Staff, Ethernet Switch ASIC Design
Role Summary
Lead architecture definition and technical strategy for next-generation Ethernet switch or PON ASICs. Own the roadmap and design direction for switching and packet-processing subsystems within the ASICS Engineering team.
Work cross-functionally with hardware, software and product teams to define features, performance targets and ensure delivery from architecture through silicon.
Experience Level
Senior β senior-level technical leadership role. See Education Requirements for required years of ASIC experience tied to degree level.
Responsibilities
Accountable for architecture, design leadership, and execution across Ethernet switching subsystems.
- Define architecture and roadmap for Ethernet switching and packet-processing subsystems.
- Drive design across multiple subsystems: forwarding engine, traffic management, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Lead performance analysis, modeling and trade-off studies for switch architecture.
- Align cross-functional HW, SW and Product teams on networking features and performance targets.
- Mentor senior technical leaders and influence organization-wide engineering direction.
- Ensure successful execution from architecture through silicon delivery.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, leadership and communication capabilities.
- Deep ASIC development expertise: logic design, RTL coding, verification, synthesis, timing closure and physical design flow.
- Deep Ethernet switch architecture knowledge, including forwarding pipelines (L2/L3, ACLs, tunneling), traffic management (QoS, scheduling, shaping) and high-performance packet processing/scaling strategies.
- Strong leadership and ability to influence cross-functional teams.
- Strong debugging and system-level problem-solving skills.
- Excellent teamwork, interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
- Fluent in Chinese and English (verbal and written).
- Able to work under tight schedules and in stressful situations to meet delivery targets.
Education Requirements
Options: Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field plus 6+ years of ASIC design/verification/validation/integration experience; OR Master's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field plus 5+ years of relevant experience; OR PhD in Science, Engineering, or related field plus 4+ years of relevant experience.
