Senior Staff ESD Compliance Engineer
Role Summary
Member of the Quality and Reliability organization responsible for ESD audit and readiness programs at supplier and customer facilities. Focus on ensuring ESD controls meet industry and company requirements for advanced semiconductor products.

Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include audits, readiness, testing, documentation, and training.
- Conduct comprehensive ESD audits at supplier fabs, assembly subcontractors, test houses, and customer sites.
- Verify site compliance with ANSI/ESD S20.20, IEC 61340-5-1, JESD625 and company ESD specifications.
- Assess ESD Protected Areas (workstations, flooring, grounding systems, personnel grounding) and validate control measures for advanced nodes.
- Develop and implement ESD readiness strategies for manufacturing partners and support NPI ESD assessments.
- Oversee ESD sensitivity testing programs (HBM, CDM, Latch-Up) per JS-001 and JS-002; validate wrist straps, ionizers, static surveys, and surface/floor resistance.
- Prepare audit reports, track corrective actions and compliance status, and maintain audit schedules.
- Develop and deliver ESD training and provide technical consultation to suppliers and internal teams.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, experience, and working conditions.
- 10+ years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing, quality engineering, or ESD control.
- Deep practical knowledge of ESD control practices and the listed industry standards.
- Hands-on experience with ESD test equipment (wrist-strap testers, surface resistance meters, ionizers, field meters) and sensitivity testing programs.
- Understanding of wafer fab, assembly and test processes; familiarity with advanced packaging and co-packaged optics ESD challenges.
- Familiarity with cleanroom standards (ISO 14644) and their relationship to ESD control.
- Experience addressing ESD requirements for advanced technology nodes (including work with low CDM targets).
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally (~25%).
- Flexible schedule to support different time zones and urgent audits; ability to perform facility walk-throughs including gowning for cleanrooms.
- Strong written and verbal communication in English; additional languages (Mandarin, Japanese, Korean) are a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, data analysis tools, and quality management systems.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree required in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related technical field. Master's degree in a relevant technical field is preferred. ESD-related certifications from the ESD Association (Certified ESD Program Manager - CPM or Certified ESD Technician - CET) are strongly preferred.
