Job Title

Senior Staff Engineer, PCIe Validation

Role Summary

Lead validation and bring-up of next-generation PCIe interfaces across controller and PHY layers, focusing on system-level reliability and performance for high-performance AI systems. Work closely with hardware, firmware, and software teams to drive features from prototype to production-ready designs.

This is a hybrid position based in Vancouver, BC, Canada, and requires hands-on lab work and cross-disciplinary debugging.

Experience Level

Senior-level (Staff/Sr). Specific years of experience not stated; role expects advanced experience validating high-speed interfaces and leading technical bring-up efforts.

Responsibilities

Own and execute validation activities for PCIe interfaces and related system interactions; collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and deliver production-ready features.

  • Lead PCIe validation from controller to PHY, including bring-up, tuning, and regression testing.
  • Design, run, and interpret lab experiments using oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, JTAG, and other debug tools.
  • Triaging and debugging issues across hardware, firmware, and software layers; identify root causes and drive fixes.
  • Work with firmware and software teams to integrate features and validate system-level behavior (multi-die/chiplet interactions where applicable).
  • Create and maintain validation plans, test benches, and documentation of results and known issues.
  • Mentor engineers and coordinate cross-team validation efforts to meet delivery milestones.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and constraints for the role, plus desirable additions.

  • Must-have: Proven experience validating PCIe or similar high-speed interfaces at controller and PHY levels.
  • Must-have: Hands-on lab experience with oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, JTAG, and lab bring-up procedures.
  • Must-have: Strong debugging skills across hardware, firmware, and software stacks; comfortable isolating complex system interactions.
  • Must-have: Demonstrated ability to collaborate with firmware, hardware, and software teams to deliver features and fixes.
  • Must-have: Ability to work in a hybrid lab-based role in Vancouver, BC.
  • Must-have: Employment may be contingent on eligibility to access U.S. export-controlled technology (citizenship, permanent residency, or ability to obtain required licenses).
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with multi-die chiplet systems, RISC-V or AI accelerator platforms, or production validation at scale.
  • Nice-to-have: Deep PCIe protocol knowledge and experience with automated validation frameworks.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
