Job Title

Senior/Staff Engineer, Firmware and Product Test (SSD)

Role Summary

The Senior/Staff Engineer owns SSD firmware verification scope, defining test strategy, automation, failure analysis, and product readiness for SSD firmware features.

Works closely with firmware development and cross-functional teams to improve code quality, resolve NAND and system-level issues, and ensure reliable enterprise and automotive SSD performance.

Experience Level

Responsibilities

Drive verification planning, testing, and release readiness for SSD firmware features; lead automation and failure analysis.

  • Develop and own comprehensive firmware verification plans covering functional, regression, and system-level tests.
  • Design and execute white-box, grey-box, known, and closed-system tests for SSD firmware features.
  • Analyze regression failures regularly, perform root-cause analysis, and resolve NAND, firmware, and system-level issues.
  • Manage test development, deployment, automation, and reporting to improve firmware quality and release readiness.
  • Participate in code reviews and collaborate with firmware engineers to improve code quality and debugging practices.
  • Mentor less experienced engineers and lead technical contributors as needed.
  • Support Agile development, CI/build automation, Git workflows, branch management, and test automation systems.
  • Integrate AI-assisted tools and insights responsibly to improve efficiency, quality, or effectiveness.

Must-have:

  • Comprehensive experience in SSD firmware testing and verification planning.
  • Proficient in Python for test development, automation, regression analysis, and reporting.
  • Experience validating and debugging NAND, firmware, and system-level issues in SSD products.
  • Knowledge of storage protocols and specifications, including PCIe, NVMe, NVMe-MI, and OCP.
  • Experience with automated build systems, continuous integration, test automation, Agile practices, and Git workflows.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving and clear communication skills; ability to manage complex technical priorities independently.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience supporting enterprise or automotive SSD products.
  • Experience improving firmware code quality through close partnership with firmware development teams.
  • Baseline digital fluency and role-appropriate AI literacy for using AI-enabled tools responsibly.

Education Requirements

B.Sc. or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
