Senior Staff Engineer, Electrical Design
Role Summary
Lead analog and power integrated-circuit design for next-generation CMOS/BCD power-management products within the Consumer and Industrial Power (CIP) product line. Work at transistor level, perform mixed-mode simulation, and drive designs from concept through release to production.
Collaborate with layout, verification, test, product and application teams and lead peer reviews and technical documentation.
Experience Level
Senior; typically requires 12+ years of product design experience.
Responsibilities
Main responsibilities include:
- Perform transistor-level design of analog/power circuits for new and derivative complex power-management ICs.
- Specify and design CMOS/BCD analog and power circuits to meet performance, area, power, and schedule constraints.
- Run block-level and top-level mixed-mode simulations to meet datasheet parameters.
- Guide layout of circuit blocks for high-speed performance and precision; advise on layout trade-offs.
- Interface with layout, verification, test, product and application engineers to bring products to production.
- Draft technical documents, participate in technical discussions with internal teams and customers, and instigate regular peer reviews.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 12+ years of product/IC design experience.
- Transistor-level design experience with switching regulators, integrated PowerFET drivers, LDOs, precision amplifiers, oscillators, bandgap references, switched-capacitor circuits, and ADC/DACs.
- Design experience in CMOS/BICMOS; familiarity with small-geometry BCD processes is a plus.
- Strong understanding of device parasitics, cross-sections, and layout trade-offs.
- Experience with mixed-signal Cadence tools and parasitic extraction preferred.
- Analog and mixed-signal verification experience desired; Verilog/RTL knowledge is a plus.
- Highly developed written and verbal cross-functional communication skills and strong organizational attention to detail.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required; MSEE or PhD preferred. Degrees in closely related technical fields (electrical/computer engineering, physics, or similar) are implied by the posting. The posting does not include an explicit "or equivalent experience" statement.
