Senior Staff Engineer - DFT
QualcommJob Title
Senior Staff Engineer - DFT
Role Summary
Member of Qualcomm's Hardware Engineering / DFT team based in Chennai. Responsible for ensuring DFT design rule coverage, generating high-quality manufacturing ATPG patterns (stuck-at and transition faults) using on-chip compression, and performing MBIST verification and repair validation.
Work includes collaboration with design, product and test engineering, post-silicon debug and ATE bring-up, and maintaining diagnostic and automation scripts.
Experience Level
Senior level. The posting indicates experienced engineers (typical guidance: 6+ years in ASIC/DFT; the listing references 6β8 years and separately 10+ years of DFT/ATPG/BIST experience).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Interface with design teams to ensure DFT rules and coverage are met.
- Generate ATPG test patterns (stuck-at, transition) using on-chip test compression.
- Perform MBIST verification, repair validation, and failure root-cause analysis.
- Run ATPG/MBIST pattern simulation across unit delay and min/max timing corners.
- Support delivery of manufacturing test patterns for ATE and assist ATE bring-up.
- Lead post-silicon debug, failure analysis, and issue resolution.
- Develop diagnostic tools and maintain automation scripts for ATPG/MBIST workflows.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience (concise):
- Several years of hands-on ASIC DFT experience (ATPG, MBIST, silicon validation); posting indicates mid-to-senior experience levels.
- Deep knowledge of ATPG coverage analysis and pattern simulation.
- Strong experience with memory verification, repair and failure analysis.
- Familiarity with on-chip test compression techniques and diagnostic generation for ATE.
- Tool experience: TestKompress (ATPG), Mentor ETVerify (MBIST), simulation tools such as VCS or ModelSim.
- Scripting ability (Perl, shell or similar) to develop and maintain test automation.
- Good communication skills and ability to work in international, cross-functional teams.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field with 5+ years of hardware engineering experience; OR Master's degree in those fields with 4+ years' experience; OR PhD with 3+ years' experience. (Degrees listed explicitly in the posting: Bachelor's, Master's, PhD in CS/Engineering/Information Systems or related.)
