Senior Staff Engineer, Design Verification

Role Summary

Senior SoC-level design verification engineer responsible for developing and maintaining UVM-based verification environments and test infrastructure for complex SoC designs. The role sits within the Custom Compute, Storage and Automotive Business Unit and focuses on ensuring design quality for high-performance compute, storage, networking and automotive applications.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Typical experience: 5+ years of related professional experience (or 3+ years with a graduate degree).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include designing verification strategies, implementing environment components, and supporting debug and delivery of SoC designs.

  • Analyze architectures and designs to create comprehensive verification test plans and strategies.
  • Develop and maintain UVM/SystemVerilog verification components and complex random test environments.
  • Build verification environments and tests to meet functional and coverage goals.
  • Debug failures, triage root causes, and work with designers to resolve issues.
  • Participate in regression planning, bug tracking, and verification automation.
  • Mentor and guide junior verification engineers.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for successful performance in the role.

  • Proven experience developing complex verification environments using SystemVerilog and UVM.
  • Experience writing and executing detailed verification test plans and regressions.
  • Familiarity with verification tools, bug-tracking systems, and regression frameworks.
  • Strong debugging, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic proficiency in C/C++ for testbench or auxiliary tooling.
  • Scripting experience (Python, Perl, or similar) for automation and test generation.
  • Working knowledge of Linux for development and verification workflows.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate in cross-functional teams.
  • Must be eligible to access export-controlled technology; candidates may be subject to an export license review.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience; or a Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field with 3+ years of relevant experience.
