Senior Staff Engineer - Analog IC
Role Summary
Senior individual contributor and technical lead on analog and mixed-signal IC development for force sensor AFEs, integrated force sensors, and haptic drivers. Responsible for owning critical chip subsystems, delivering production-ready designs, and coordinating across product, test, verification, and manufacturing teams.
Experience Level
Senior β requires 12+ years of experience in analog IC design in the semiconductor industry.
Responsibilities
The role focuses on leading design, architecture, and delivery of high-accuracy analog/mixed-signal ICs and mentoring junior engineers.
- Lead design and development of high-accuracy analog and mixed-signal ICs; deliver robust designs meeting specs and schedules (approx. 55% of role).
- Own critical chip subsystems and act as technical lead for cross-functional project teams (approx. 20%).
- Collaborate with Marketing, Product Definition, Test, Verification, Reliability, and Product Engineering to drive product development (approx. 10%).
- Drive circuit and architecture innovation to improve performance and efficiency (approx. 5%).
- Mentor and support junior engineers and interns; provide technical guidance (approx. 5%).
- Prepare technical reports and present complex concepts to senior stakeholders (approx. 5%).
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate contribution.
- 12+ years of hands-on analog IC design experience in the semiconductor industry.
- Deep knowledge of CMOS and BiCMOS analog circuit design practices.
- Proven experience as a technical lead on chip development projects.
- Strong mixed-signal design and mixed-signal verification experience.
- Expert with Cadence design environment, simulation, and verification tools.
- Expertise in device modeling and mixed-signal simulation (Verilog-AMS, SystemVerilog).
- Understanding of DFM, reliability, yield optimization, and production concerns.
- Experience with parasitics, matching, ESD, latch-up, crosstalk, and IR drop considerations in mixed-signal designs.
- Analog block and full-chip schematic design, process-corner analysis, and post-layout simulation.
- Block-level verification including LVS/DRC/PEX; familiarity with chip top-level verification.
- Experience translating MEMS and actuator models into equivalent circuit representations.
- Strong documentation skills for design and characterization results; DFMEA experience.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
Nice-to-have:
- Production experience and chip bring-up experience.
- Experience with mixed-signal lab validation techniques and equipment.
- Experience translating haptic actuator models into equivalent circuits.
- Familiarity with high-voltage and high-current ASIC design.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, or a related Engineering field (stated requirement). Postgraduate degrees (MSc or PhD) in a relevant field are listed as desirable.
