Job Title
Senior / Staff Engineer, Analog IC Design
Role Summary
Design and validate high-speed, high-performance analog circuits for SerDes IP in advanced process nodes. Work within Central Engineering to deliver analog IP used across Marvell product lines and collaborate with DSP, digital, AE, layout, and test teams.
Experience Level
Senior level. The posting specifies 2+ years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include architecture, design, validation, and cross-team support for SerDes analog blocks.
- Design analog blocks for high-speed SerDes and supporting circuits (PLL, CDR, CTLE, FFE, DFE, data converters, oscillators, line drivers).
- Participate in SerDes architecture development with DSP, analog and digital design teams.
- Prepare and execute IP characterization and validation plans with Applications Engineering.
- Support product teams and customers with IP integration and technical issues.
- Provide guidance and instructions to layout engineers and support post-layout activities.
- Lead lab chip bring-up, debugging, and system-level pre-tape-out validation efforts.
Requirements
Technical skills and experience required or strongly preferred.
-
Must-have: Strong analog design fundamentals and practical experience designing analog circuit blocks for high-speed applications (PLL, data converters, oscillators, CDR, CTLE, FFE, DFE, line drivers).
-
Must-have: Experience with analog design and verification tools such as Virtuoso, Spectre, ADE and post-layout extraction tools.
-
Must-have: Knowledge of signal integrity, noise reduction, and multi-GHz low-jitter clock generation and distribution.
-
Must-have: Experience with lab chip bring-up, debugging, and system-level pre-tape-out analog validation.
-
Preferred: Good understanding of analog layout issues in FinFET processes and their impact on high-speed designs.
-
Preferred: Strong communication and documentation skills.
Education Requirements
Master's degree and/or PhD preferred in Electrical Engineering or a related field. (The posting prefers advanced degrees but does not state a strict minimum degree; equivalent technical experience is implied by the role requirements.)
