Job Title
Senior Staff EDA Tools Hardware Engineer
Role Summary
Lead development and integration of iterative timing-closure flows and hardware-oriented EDA tool solutions to achieve PPA convergence for advanced APR on new process nodes. Collaborate with cross-functional product, foundry and EDA vendor teams to define deterministic PPA measurement, run DTCO experiments, and improve RTL-to-GDS workflows. This role is eligible for Intel's hybrid work model and is based in Penang, Malaysia.
Experience Level
Senior β requires 10+ years of relevant industry experience in software development, data engineering, analytics, or AI-related roles.
Responsibilities
Primary technical and leadership responsibilities:
- Develop and integrate iterative timing-closure flows for advanced Automated Place and Route (APR) to meet PPA targets on new process nodes/PDKs.
- Drive adoption and improvement of AI agents to accelerate PPA experiments and RTL-to-GDS workflows.
- Design and execute DTCO (Design-Technology Co-Optimization) experiments across multiple PPA objectives.
- Coordinate with foundry and product teams to ensure platform entitlement is reflected in product TFM releases and validate measurement methodology.
- Lead debugging of PPA non-determinism and regressions; work with EDA vendors and foundry engineers to implement corrective actions.
- Define and enforce deterministic PPA measurement practices for each TFM release and align stakeholders on methodologies.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed where applicable.
-
Must-have: 10+ years of relevant industry experience in software development, data engineering, analytics, or AI-related roles.
-
Must-have: Hands-on experience achieving PPA convergence and working on structural design (RTL-to-GDS) for multiple product tape-ins.
-
Must-have: Deep expertise with EDA design-construction tools, including tool configuration, commands, and application options.
-
Must-have: Proven experience leading cross-functional teams and coordinating with EDA vendors and foundry partners.
-
Nice-to-have: Practical experience applying AI/ML agents to EDA workflows and PPA optimization.
-
Nice-to-have: Strong analytics, debugging, scripting skills, and experience with DTCO methodologies.
Education Requirements
B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, or a related discipline (as stated in the source).
