Role Summary

Work at the intersection of system firmware and DRAM product engineering to enable, qualify, validate, and debug Micron memory products on next-generation platforms. The role uses BIOS and early-boot firmware as technical instrumentation for memory bring-up, training, configuration, margining, and failure analysis.

This position partners with System Enablers, external platform partners, DRAM Product Engineering, and validation teams to support early silicon, qualification, and customer enablement across major ecosystems (Intel, AMD, ARM, Nvidia).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on firmware-driven memory enablement, development, and cross-functional support for DRAM validation and customer readiness.

• Use BIOS/system firmware to enable and debug DRAM initialization, training flows, and boot-related memory issues.
• Support memory qualification, validation, characterization, and failure analysis in lab and early-silicon environments.
• Analyze and modify Memory Reference Code (MRC) integrations to support Micron DRAM devices.
• Design, modify, and maintain early-boot firmware (SEC/PEI/Pre-Memory, SoC init, memory init paths).
• Integrate and debug vendor MRCs and platform-specific firmware (Intel, AMD, ARM).
• Develop firmware-based debug hooks, controls, and instrumentation to accelerate root-cause analysis.
• Maintain BIOS images for compatibility/validation labs, failure analysis, and partner support.
• Translate DRAM-level issues into firmware experiments and represent firmware considerations in platform readiness reviews.
• Mentor engineers on memory bring-up and improve firmware tooling and processes to increase validation efficiency.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience are listed first; preferred items follow.

• Must-have: 5+ years firmware, low-level systems, or platform enablement experience.
• Must-have: UEFI BIOS source development experience (AMI, Insyde, or equivalent) and hands-on Memory Reference Code (MRC) integration and debug.
• Must-have: Proficiency in C and experience working in early-boot / pre-OS environments.
• Must-have: Strong understanding of CPU, memory controller, and DRAM subsystem interactions and experience debugging hardware issues related to memory stability, training, or boot behavior.
• Preferred: Working knowledge of Python and/or Assembly.
• Preferred: Familiarity with x86 and/or ARM platforms and prior experience with memory initialization, training, bring-up, or debug.
• Preferred: Experience developing firmware instrumentation, maintaining BIOS images for labs, and collaborating with external platform partners and validation teams.
• Personal: Strong analytical and root-cause analysis skills across HW/SW boundaries, effective communication, and ability to operate independently in early enablement phases.
