Senior Staff Digital Design Power Engineer
QualcommJob Title
Senior Staff Digital Design Power Engineer
Role Summary
Lead development of digital power-control systems for ASIC/SoC products, from architecture through RTL implementation and silicon bring-up. Owns power-control interface design, power optimization, and delivery quality for next-generation products.
Works across verification, synthesis and physical design teams, mentors junior engineers, contributes in design reviews, and establishes development plans to meet product schedules.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The posting specifies acceptance of a Master's degree and six (6) years of related experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Architect and design digital power-control systems and interfaces to external voltage regulators.
- Develop and deliver RTL for power-control functions; ensure convergence with synthesis and PD flows.
- Optimize power-control logic to minimize overhead and runtime/area/energy penalties.
- Coordinate with verification, synthesis and PD teams to achieve silicon-ready designs.
- Lead and mentor junior engineers; drive engineering efficiency and product quality.
- Participate in design reviews, define implementation plans, and track project deliverables.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Proven experience in digital power design for ASIC/SoC products and silicon engineering on advanced process nodes.
- Strong RTL design and microarchitecture skills for power-control logic.
- Experience integrating power-control with verification, synthesis and physical design teams and flows.
- Ability to optimize power-management schemes for minimal overhead and interface with external VRs.
- Leadership experience: guiding engineers, driving design reviews, and delivering production-quality results.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with low-power methodologies, power modeling, and EDA tools used in power analysis.
- Scripting skills (Python/Tcl/Perl) and experience with power-management firmware or system-level power architectures.
Education Requirements
Master's degree (or foreign academic equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is specified; the posting also requires six (6) years of related occupational experience. Foreign academic equivalents are accepted.
