Senior Staff DFT Engineer
RenesasJob Title
Senior Staff DFT Engineer
Role Summary
Join the PMIC/Mobile Power IC design team to define and deliver design-for-test (DFT) architecture and verification for multi-core SoCs and mixed-signal ICs. The role leads DFT strategy, integration, test-pattern generation and lab/ATE validation across cross-functional teams.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Minimum of 8 years industry experience (with a BS) in DFT, digital or mixed-signal IC design.
Responsibilities
Hands-on technical leadership across DFT architecture, implementation, verification and production support.
- Define and document DFT architecture for multi-core SoCs (scan compression, MBIST, LBIST, Logic/Functional BIST, JTAG/iJTAG networks, high-speed I/O loopback).
- Lead scan insertion, ATPG pattern generation and integration of digital subsystems to achieve target fault coverage.
- Verify test modes and patterns prior to tapeout; validate and debug test modes and patterns in the lab and on ATE.
- Diagnose failing devices, support PFA and collaborate with Product, Test and Applications Engineering to complete product release.
- Manage DFT processes and tools, interface with internal teams and external customers, and lead cross-functional deliveries in a fast-paced environment.
- Support production-test activities including yield-improvement efforts and test application optimization.
Requirements
Key must-have skills and relevant experience.
- Minimum 8+ years industry experience in DFT for digital or mixed-signal ICs.
- Practical experience with DFT/ATPG tools and flows (Synopsys, Mentor); hands-on with tools such as Synopsys TestMAX and Mentor Tessent.
- Experience with DFT protocols: scan compression, MBIST, LBIST, JTAG (IEEE 1149.1) and iJTAG (IEEE 1687).
- DFT insertion and ATPG pattern generation with demonstrated high fault coverage results.
- Experience verifying and validating test modes and patterns, including lab/ATE debug and failure diagnosis.
- Strong understanding of SoC/MCU architecture and digital design flows.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts clearly in English.
Education Requirements
Required: B.A./B.S. in engineering, engineering management, or engineering operations (B.S./B.Sc./B.Eng in Electrical/Electronic Engineering). Preferred: MS or PhD in relevant engineering fields. The posting references experience expectations tied to degree level (minimum 8 years with a BS).
