Job Title

Senior Staff Device Characterization Engineer

Role Summary

Lead device characterization activities for power devices, maintaining test lab capability and delivering accurate electrical and reliability data for device development and modeling. Work closely with the device development and modeling teams to support measurements, test program debugging, and lab upgrades.

Experience Level

Senior — minimum 10 years of hands-on semiconductor device characterization experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include operating and maintaining lab equipment, performing electrical and reliability measurements, developing supporting software, and evolving the lab to meet changing test requirements.

  • Oversee and maintain test equipment such as automated probers, parameter analyzers, S‑parameter systems, and associated software.
  • Operate HP4062/4073 testers with EG2080/EG4090 and TEL Precio XL probers; use HP8753 and Agilent B1500 systems as needed.
  • Perform wafer‑level and packaged part measurements: process and device characterization, EPROM testing, raw I‑V curves, reliability tests (HCI, HTRB), gate charge and reverse recovery, and S‑parameter measurements.
  • Develop and modify test software and scripts to support device development and modeling; debug test chip programs with other team members.
  • Plan and execute lab hardware and software upgrades to meet evolving testing requirements.

Requirements

Core technical skills and hands‑on experience required.

Must-have:

  • 10+ years of practical experience in semiconductor device characterization and lab testing.
  • Experience with automated probers, semiconductor parameter analyzers, and S‑parameter measurement systems.
  • Familiarity with HP RMB or SPECS and experience with instrument control and test program debugging.
  • Proficiency with Unix systems and typical lab workflows.
  • Experience with semiconductor layout tools such as Cadence Virtuoso.
  • Solid understanding of device physics relevant to tested devices.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with scripting or data tools such as Splus/R, Python, MATLAB, or JMP.
  • Experience using IC‑CAP for S‑parameter analysis.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
