Job Title

Senior Staff Design Engineer

Role Summary

Join Arm's Solution Engineering division to design SoC debug subsystems, primarily based on CoreSight IP. The role covers specification, RTL implementation, and design reviews to deliver correct, area- and power-efficient subsystems.

You will work closely with verification and physical-design teams to meet functional, power, and timing requirements.

Experience Level

Senior-level β€” more than 10 years of experience in complex subsystem or SoC design.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include specification, RTL development, design verification support, and cross-team coordination.

  • Define and document micro-architecture and subsystem specifications.
  • Develop RTL implementations (SystemVerilog/Verilog) and perform design checks for correctness and quality.
  • Optimize designs for area efficiency and low-power operation.
  • Address power, clock-domain crossing, and reset-domain crossing issues.
  • Collaborate with verification teams to assess test coverage, review verification plans, and debug design defects.
  • Coordinate with physical design teams on floorplanning, clocking, reset strategies, and timing closure.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

  • More than 10 years' experience in complex subsystem or SoC design.
  • Hands-on experience with Arm CoreSight IP and debug/trace architectures.
  • Experience with ARM-based designs and ARM system architectures.
  • Advanced proficiency in SystemVerilog and Verilog.
  • Experience with power handling, CDC, and reset domain crossing.
  • Proficiency in scripting (Perl, Python, or similar).
  • Leadership, mentoring, or coaching experience.

Nice-to-have:

  • Exposure to UPF/CPF low-power design techniques.
  • Familiarity with DFT concepts (scan, MBIST, SSN).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
