Senior Staff CPU Design Engineer

Role Summary

Join the CPU design team responsible for architecting and delivering RTL for high-performance, energy-efficient processor IP. The role owns microarchitectural blocks, implements RTL, and works across verification and physical design to meet performance, timing, power, area, and schedule targets.

Senior — requires 8+ years of relevant industry experience.

Responsibilities

The engineer will implement and deliver CPU RTL while coordinating with verification and physical design teams.

• Design, implement, and converge RTL for one or more CPU functional blocks from microarchitectural specifications.
• Drive block-level convergence to meet performance, timing, power, area, and schedule requirements.
• Support verification: develop testbench elements, test plans, and test content including performance verification.
• Collaborate with physical design and design-for-test teams to meet implementation and testability goals.
• Interface with performance modeling and software teams as needed to validate functionality and performance.
• Follow and support Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHS&S) requirements.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and practical experience follow; preferred skills are listed separately.

• Experience in structural datapath and/or control logic design.
• Proficiency in Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL.
• Experience with commercial simulators and RTL debugging tools.
• Proven ability to work with verification, performance modeling, and physical design teams.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred:

• Timing convergence experience.
• Low-power design techniques.
• Scripting experience (e.g. Python, regular expressions).
• Programming experience in assembly, C, or C++.
