Senior / Staff ATE Test Engineer – Optical Transceiver Silicon
LumilensJob Title
Senior / Staff ATE Test Engineer – Optical Transceiver Silicon
Role Summary
Own test development and production test programs for mixed-signal and high-speed ICs used in optical transceivers and co-packaged optics. The role covers first-silicon bring-up through multi-site production at OSATs, with responsibility for yield, throughput, and test architecture.
Based in Singapore and working closely with design and validation teams across the US, India, and Singapore, you will be the senior test lead interfacing with OSATs and test vendors in the region.
Experience Level
Senior-level; the role expects an experienced engineer (typically 8+ years) with proven ownership of at least one program from first silicon to high-volume production.
Responsibilities
Lead test strategy, implementation, and production support for mixed-signal and high-speed ICs used in optical transceivers.
- Define test coverage, test lists, and insertion flow for wafer sort, final test, and system-level screening.
- Develop, debug, and optimize ATE programs for analog/DC parameters, high-speed signal paths, digital scan, and firmware-driven test modes.
- Specify and bring up test hardware: load boards, probe cards, sockets, and opto-electrical fixturing; manage vendor layout/fab/first article.
- Lead first-silicon bring-up; correlate ATE, bench characterization, and system-level performance and resolve discrepancies.
- Manage relationships with OSATs and test houses: program release, multi-site correlation, throughput optimization, capacity planning, and production support.
- Analyze sort and final-test data to identify yield limiters, marginal tests, and guard-band issues; lead failure analysis and root-cause investigations.
- Establish reusable test IP, data infrastructure, documentation, and review practices; mentor junior test engineers.
Requirements
Core technical and practical skills required to deliver production test programs and run them at external test sites.
Must-have:
- 8+ years developing production test for mixed-signal or high-speed ICs, including at least one program taken from first silicon to high-volume production.
- Hands-on ATE experience on major platforms (e.g., Advantest 93K/T2000, Teradyne UltraFLEX/J750, Eagle, Chroma, or comparable).
- Strong programming in C/C++ and Python on Linux; produce maintainable test code.
- Solid analog and mixed-signal fundamentals; ability to read schematics and design measurements to verify specs.
- Practical test-hardware skills: load board and probe card reviews, signal integrity at speed, and bench instrumentation (oscilloscopes, BERTs, SMUs, VNAs).
- Statistical fluency for yield and correlation work (e.g., JMP, MATLAB, Python/pandas).
- Direct experience running programs at OSATs and managing external test partners.
- Willingness to travel regionally and to overlap with US/India hours during bring-up or excursions.
Nice-to-have:
- Established relationships with OSATs/test houses in Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, or the Philippines.
- High-speed SerDes test at 100G/lane+ (BER, jitter decomposition, eye margining, loopback).
- Silicon photonics / optical transceiver / opto-electrical test experience (coupled-fiber test, optical power/wavelength, TIA/driver characterization).
- DFT familiarity (scan, MBIST, JTAG/IEEE 1149, on-chip monitors) and STDF/test data pipeline experience.
- Experience defining test for a first-generation product line.
Education Requirements
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field (as stated).
