Senior Staff Applications Engineer - UCIe

Role Summary

Provide technical leadership to integrate Synopsys UCIe (Universal Chiplet Interconnect Express) IP into customer SoC and system designs. Serve as the primary customer-facing applications engineer for complex integrations, coordinating with R&D and customer teams through design, verification, silicon bring-up, and system validation.

Work on-site with customer engineering teams to drive successful deployment of Interface IP, deliver integration guidance, and improve deployment methodologies and product usability.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Typically requires at least 8 years of design, verification, implementation, validation, or applications engineering experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include customer integration support, technical leadership, and collaboration with R&D.

• Lead customer integration reviews and major SoC milestones for UCIe IP.
• Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues across simulation, synthesis, floorplan, STA, DFT, silicon bring-up, and system integration.
• Perform root-cause analysis and coordinate resolutions with customers and R&D teams.
• Produce application notes, deployment methodologies, and recommend product improvements based on customer experience.
• Mentor junior applications engineers and drive technical knowledge sharing.
• Participate in R&D design reviews to align product development with customer needs.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience; preferred items noted as nice-to-have.

• Typically 8+ years of experience in ASIC front-end or back-end design, verification, implementation, validation, or applications engineering.
• Hands-on experience with ASIC front-end or back-end development and SoC integration flows.
• Proven ability to independently lead customer technical discussions and engagements.
• Strong analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
• Proven verbal and written communication skills; customer-facing experience.
• Willingness to travel as required for customer engagements.
• Nice-to-have: experience with advanced technology nodes (10nm/7nm/5nm/3nm), mixed-signal IP or circuit design, Die-to-Die and PCIe/CXL protocols, silicon/FPGA debug and troubleshooting, expertise in P&R, physical verification, signal integrity, or power integrity.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.
