Experience Level
Senior β requires substantial professional experience. See Education Requirements for degree-specific years of experience guidance.
Responsibilities
Deliver technical leadership across customer engagements, product feedback, and enablement.
- Lead technical engagement across the sales cycle: discovery, demos, proofs-of-concept.
- Work with customers to define and solve electronics cooling problems at package, board, and system levels.
- Deploy and integrate Ansys simulation tools (Fluent, Icepak, Mechanical) into customer workflows.
- Validate and test new software releases on industrial thermal problems and produce application best practices.
- Partner with product development to communicate customer needs and influence the roadmap.
- Deliver training, consulting, and technical content (presentations, webinars, papers) to customers and events.
- Mentor junior applications engineers and contribute team-wide knowledge sharing.
- Travel domestically as required (typically up to 25%).
Requirements
Core skills and experience required to perform the role.
- Minimum 4+ years in application engineering, customer support, or consulting roles working directly with engineering software.
- Strong technical background in fluid mechanics, CFD, and thermodynamics with applied experience in electronics thermal management.
- Proficiency with Ansys tools such as Fluent, Icepak, or Mechanical, or equivalent CAE/EDA/PLM experience.
- Experience integrating simulation into customer design workflows (not only standalone analyses).
- Excellent written and verbal communication; able to present technical content to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Comfortable with domestic travel up to ~25% (flexible to higher when needed).
- Nice-to-have: experience with multiphysics (electro-thermal, thermo-mechanical) and prior work influencing product roadmaps or sales engineering.
Education Requirements
MS in Mechanical Engineering or related field with ~6+ years' relevant experience; or BS with ~8+ years; or PhD with ~3+ years (note: posting indicates PhD with 7+ years preferred in some cases). Fields cited: Mechanical Engineering or related technical disciplines. No formal certification requirements specified.
