Customer Applications Engineer
Role Summary
Senior technical contributor on the Performance Computing Power Applications team focused on power management solutions for infrastructure and AI servers. Works cross-functionally with marketing, software, IC design, and applications teams to deliver and validate power solutions for server platforms.
Experience Level
Mid-level / Mid-Career. Typical experience indicated: approximately 3β5 years (BS) or ~3 years (MS) in relevant roles; role functions at a senior technical level within the team.
Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership for digital multiphase power products and system-level power solutions.
- Travel to customer sites to debug, validate, and support digital multiphase products and system integration.
- Engage with customers to diagnose and resolve complex power-delivery issues for CPU/GPU/SoC platforms.
- Support product development by participating in system validation of controllers, VPS/SPS, and power modules.
- Provide detailed solutions and collaborate with marketing to match customer requirements to product offerings.
- Create technical collateral: datasheets, performance reports, and application notes.
- Train and mentor other application/field engineers to broaden product knowledge and customer support capability.
Requirements
Core technical skills and domain experience required to execute the role.
Must have:
- Experience with firmware-enabled power products and powering large-scale ASICs (CPUs/GPUs) in data center environments.
- Experience with multiphase DC/DC converters targeting Intel/AMD/SoC systems.
- Knowledge of mixed-signal ICs and digitally enabled power-management products.
- Understanding and application of control-loop theory in power converters.
- Proficiency with lab equipment (network analyzers, oscilloscopes, waveform generators) and lab-test automation.
- Willingness and ability to travel to customer sites in Asia and the US.
Nice to have:
- Experience contributing to system validation and close collaboration with designers and IC teams on new controller and power-stage products.
Education Requirements
BS in Engineering (electrical engineering / power electronics preferred) with up to 5 years' experience, or MS in Engineering with ~3 years' experience.
