Senior Staff Application Engineer
Role Summary
Senior technical contributor on the Performance Computing Power Applications team focusing on power management solutions for infrastructure and AI servers. The role provides system-level guidance, leads new power-management application decisions, and coordinates cross-functional work with marketing, device engineering, firmware, IC design, and other application teams.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Requires a minimum of 10+ years of experience in the power management industry.
Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership and customer-facing support for digital multiphase power solutions.
- Work on-site with customers to debug, validate, and tune digital multiphase products and power stages.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, device engineering, firmware, and IC design to define solutions that meet customer requirements.
- Contribute to system validation of new modules, vertical/lateral power stages, and controller products.
- Create technical collateral: datasheets, performance reports, application notes, and design guidance.
- Train and mentor other application and field engineers to broaden product support.
- Support pre-sales and marketing by mapping product capabilities to customer specifications.
Requirements
Key technical skills and experience required for the role.
- Minimum 10+ years in the power management industry with proven application/field experience.
- Experience supporting MOSFETs, GaN devices, and power stage design.
- Experience with digitally enabled power management products and digital multiphase PWM controllers.
- Solid understanding of control-loop theory and its application in power converters.
- Experience with multiphase DC/DC converter topologies.
- Mixed-signal IC/system knowledge and hands-on system-level troubleshooting experience.
- Proficiency with lab equipment including network analyzers, oscilloscopes, and waveform generators.
- Willingness and ability to travel to customer sites in Asia and the United States.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in engineering required (electrical engineering / power electronics preferred). Master of Science in engineering is preferred.
