Job Title
Senior Staff Analog and Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer
Role Summary
Senior Staff engineer on a small analog team within Central Engineering designing mixed-signal CMOS transceiver/SERDES products. The role covers architecture, circuit implementation, verification, layout oversight, and prototype characterization to meet tight performance targets.
Experience Level
Senior / Staff level. Typical experience: approximately 5+ years (posting provides 5–10 years with a Bachelor's, or 3–5 years with a Master’s/PhD).
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include technical design, verification, and integration of mixed-signal IC blocks:
- Architect, design, and implement mixed-signal circuits (PLL, DLL, ADC/DAC, regulators, amplifiers, TX/RX, CDRs, filters, bandgap bias circuits).
- Perform circuit-level verification and simulation using SPICE/Spectre, MATLAB and related tools to meet performance targets.
- Lead and perform layout activities in advanced nanometric technologies and supervise physical design teams.
- Plan and execute lab characterization, prototype debug, and validation with test engineers.
- Generate design documentation and application specifications; support customers and field application engineers as needed.
- Coordinate with digital and SoC teams for design integration and cross-functional verification.
- Contribute to architectural investigations and mentor junior engineers.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience. Education items summarized separately under Education Requirements below.
- Strong knowledge of deep sub-micron CMOS technologies.
- Hands-on mixed-signal circuit design experience (ADC/DAC, RX/TX, PLLs, filters, regulators, bandgap, amplifiers, CDRs).
- Experience with low-power and high-speed design techniques.
- Proficiency with IC design and verification tools such as Spectre, SPICE, MATLAB, Hsim, and Verilog.
- Lab testing skills for prototype evaluation, characterization, and debug.
- Layout experience in nanometric technologies and ability to supervise physical design activities.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
- Experience with CMOS transceiver/SERDES products and system-level design is highly relevant.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 5–10 years of related professional experience; or a Master’s degree and/or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 3–5 years of related experience. (These degree and years-of-experience statements were provided in the source posting.)
