Job Title

Senior Software Product Application Engineer - Video SoC

Role Summary

Senior technical product application manager responsible for defining software requirements and system architecture for next-generation Video SoC products. The role focuses on software strategy across Camera/Video SoC platforms, with emphasis on embedded firmware and Linux-based systems.

Works closely with product, engineering, and customer teams to translate customer and market needs into SoC software specifications, validate architecture proposals, and drive cross-platform software alignment.

Experience Level

Senior level. At least 5 years of relevant experience required; 8+ years strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Main responsibilities include product- and system-level software definition, architecture evaluation, and cross-team coordination.

  • Analyze customer system requirements and product architectures, and translate them into SoC software and system-level solutions.
  • Serve as the software-focused product application owner for the Video SoC software stack (boot flow, BSP, SDK, middleware).
  • Evaluate and validate firmware and system architecture proposals; assess feasibility, risks, and long-term maintainability.
  • Coordinate with other Camera/Video SoC product managers to align Linux version strategy, kernel maintenance approach, and SDK interfaces across platforms.
  • Drive cross-SoC software consistency where appropriate and define boundaries where divergence is required (architecture, performance, market needs).
  • Consolidate product and competitor benchmarking data and produce analytical reports to inform performance and differentiation efforts.
  • Support customer-facing technical engagements and provide application-level guidance for SoC software integration.
  • Travel approximately four times per year (typical destinations: US, India, China).

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, experience, and capabilities.

  • Solid background in embedded firmware or system software with hands-on experience in embedded Linux-based systems.
  • Proven ability to independently assess firmware constraints, implementation risks, and system-level trade-offs.
  • Practical experience with programming languages such as C/C++, Java, or Python and with debugging techniques (minimum ~1 year combined academic/work experience as noted in the source).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, written and verbal communication skills; effective cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to leverage AI tools and technical references to validate firmware designs and Linux subsystem behavior.
  • Experience supporting customer SoC products in technical, application, or solution-facing roles is preferred.
  • Familiarity with multimedia pipelines, ISP, camera sensors, and video frameworks is a plus.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field (Information Systems, Computer Science, or similar) or equivalent practical experience. The posting also lists Master's degree and PhD as acceptable alternatives in the minimum qualifications. The source explicitly allows "equivalent practical experience."
