Job Title

Senior Software Modeling Engineer

Role Summary

Join Arm's Central Engineering Software (CE-SW) modeling team to develop functional, high-performance software models of Arm Interconnect IP used in Arm Virtual Platforms for early software development and system validation.

The team works with architects, hardware engineers, and CE-SW peers to deliver system-level models that enable partners to validate software stacks, debug system behavior, and analyze low-level memory transactions. The role requires translating evolving hardware specifications into robust C++ system models.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The posting does not specify a formal years-of-experience requirement.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include implementing and maintaining system-level models and collaborating across hardware and software teams to integrate and validate platforms.

  • Develop and maintain efficient C++ models of Arm Interconnect IP for system-level simulation.
  • Deliver models incrementally to support evolving partner requirements and obtain early feedback.
  • Collaborate with architects and hardware engineers while specifications and designs evolve.
  • Integrate software on Arm Virtual Platforms, debug system-level issues, and improve modeling workflows with CE-SW engineers.
  • Participate in technical discussions, provide engineering judgment, and communicate progress and issues clearly.
  • Work in a hybrid setting; attend the office at least two days per week for planning and team activities.

Requirements

Core technical requirements and desirable skills.

Must-have

  • Strong C++ development skills with experience building robust, efficient software.
  • Good understanding of computer architecture concepts such as memory hierarchy, interconnects, and system-level behavior.
  • Ability to solve complex technical problems using sound software engineering practices with appropriate guidance.
  • Clear communication skills to explain technical issues and collaborate across teams.

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with programmer’s view modeling or instruction-level simulators (QEMU, Simics, Gem5, Virtualizer) or SoC virtual prototyping using C++, SystemC, or TLM.
  • Experience with low-level software, firmware, or device-driver development.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
