Senior Software Engineer - System QA
ArmJob Title
Senior Software Engineer - System QA
Role Summary
Join Central Engineering - Software to validate complex Linux server and SoC platforms. Develop automated tests and log-analysis tools, investigate system-level issues across hardware, firmware and software, and collaborate with partner engineering teams to improve platform bring-up, performance and long-duration stability.
Experience Level
Senior-level role. The posting does not specify years of experience but the title indicates a senior position.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include developing tests, debugging system-level failures, and automating validation workflows.
- Develop and maintain functional, performance, stress and long-duration stability tests for Linux server and SoC platforms.
- Create test automation, log-analysis tools and regression coverage using C/C++ , Python and shell scripting.
- Validate and debug interactions across firmware, Linux kernel and device drivers, system management, networking, storage and hardware bring-up.
- Investigate failures found during system-level workloads and long-duration testing; gather evidence, identify likely root causes and communicate findings to partner teams.
- Exercise platform reliability, availability and serviceability features, telemetry, power and thermal behaviour, and reset and boot flows.
- Contribute to validation of memory, high-speed I/O, PCIe, NVMe, Ethernet, RDMA and accelerator-related workloads.
Requirements
Core must-have skills and experience.
- Proven programming in C or C++ and use of Python and shell scripting for test automation and log analysis.
- Experience validating and debugging Linux-based server or SoC platforms across firmware, kernel, device drivers, system management and hardware bring-up.
- Experience designing and running system-level functional, performance, stress or long-duration stability tests with effective failure detection and root-cause analysis.
- Understanding of system architecture across areas such as CPU and memory, cache coherency, DMA, NUMA, IOMMU/SMMU, PCIe, networking, storage, and power/thermal management.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with BMC-based server management, secure boot, firmware authentication, boot-stage sequencing, watchdogs, reset flows, or inter-processor mailbox mechanisms.
- RAS validation experience across memory, interconnect, PCIe or accelerator subsystems and use of telemetry such as performance counters and sensors.
- PCIe or NVMe validation, including block-device testing, storage performance testing or long-duration storage stress testing.
- Knowledge of high-speed Ethernet, RDMA, RoCEv2, MPI/collective communication stacks or scale-up/scale-out architectures.
- Familiarity with AI/ML or accelerator validation (PyTorch workloads, benchmarking, numerical-result comparison, workload automation).
Education Requirements
No specific degree, field of study or certification is stated. The posting explicitly welcomes equivalent practical experience.
