Senior Software Engineer, Embedded Platform Middleware — Automotive and Robotics
Role Summary
Join NVIDIA's Embedded Platform Middleware (NvSci) team to build low-level system software that enables deterministic, secure, high-performance data sharing and synchronization across GPUs, CPUs, and accelerators on DRIVE and Jetson platforms. The team focuses on safety-critical middleware used in automotive and robotic products.

Responsibilities
Lead design, implementation, and delivery of middleware features that meet safety and performance requirements for embedded platforms.
- Design and evolve middleware APIs for buffer sharing, cross-engine synchronization, streaming, and inter-process communication.
- Lead end-to-end feature development aligned with product roadmaps and automotive safety/security standards (e.g., ISO 26262, ASPICE, ISO 21434).
- Optimize performance for resource-constrained embedded environments and collaborate with hardware and firmware teams on co-designed solutions.
- Drive technical direction across teams, collaborating with CUDA, graphics, camera, and AV framework engineers to simplify system architecture.
- Introduce and improve automation, static analysis, fuzzing, and other tooling to increase reliability and development velocity.
- Mentor engineers and represent the platform in cross-organizational design discussions and reviews.
Requirements
Core qualifications and skills required. (Degree and academic requirements are listed under Education Requirements.)
- 8+ years building embedded or systems software.
- Strong proficiency in C and modern C++.
- Deep experience with embedded systems and system architecture, including multi-threaded software across heterogeneous processors and accelerators.
- Strong understanding of operating system internals: memory management, synchronization primitives, IPC, and drivers.
- Hands-on Linux kernel experience (drivers, subsystems, or kernel-space development).
- Experience delivering safety-critical software using certified development processes (e.g., ISO 26262, DO-178C, IEC 61508, or equivalent).
- Proven track record of taking solutions from concept to production in cross-functional, distributed teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with automotive cybersecurity (ISO 21434) or ASPICE workflows.
- Familiarity with RTOSes such as QNX or Integrity.
- Background in GPU programming, CUDA, Vulkan, or graphics/compute driver stacks.
- Experience with MISRA C/C++, Coverity, fuzzing, or formal verification techniques.
Education Requirements
BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field — or equivalent practical experience.
