Senior Software Engineer, CAD Tool Development - Circuits

Role Summary

Develop and maintain EDA/CAD software that improves productivity and robustness of custom circuit designs. Work within the Circuits Solutions Group alongside backend and cross-functional teams on pre-silicon and post-silicon data-analysis and tool flows.

Experience Level

Senior; requires 3+ years of relevant software or tool development experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain CAD/EDA tools covering full tool lifecycle (data storage, UI, testing, deployment, maintenance).
  • Analyze silicon and VLSI data for tasks such as timing analysis and process-variation studies.
  • Collaborate with backend engineers to support and improve development infrastructure and workflows.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to integrate tools and ensure design robustness across product lines.
  • Apply and promote strong software engineering practices within the team.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in software or CAD/tool development.
  • Proficient in multiple languages (C++, Python, Tcl) and scripting (Perl, Shell).
  • Prior experience developing tools that include GUI, database management, testing, and deployment.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted code tools and code-review models.
  • Familiar with MCP, agent skills, agent orchestration, and spec-driven development.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across teams and regions.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with EDA tools such as ICC2, Design Compiler, PrimeTime, Innovus.
  • Previous work with VLSI, ASIC, or silicon data analysis.
  • Experience presenting technical results to cross-functional audiences.

Education Requirements

B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering field preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
