Senior Software Engineer C/C++
Role Summary
Join the Siemens EDA team to design and implement electronic design automation (EDA) software used in chip, board, and system design. You will deliver high-performance C and C++ code, solve complex technical problems, and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams.
About 80% of the development is in C and about 20% in C++. The role involves contributing to architecture, code reviews, and mentoring junior engineers.
Experience Level
Senior level — typically 5+ years of professional experience in EDA software development or a related engineering domain.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include design, implementation, and maintenance of EDA software and related engineering tasks.
- Design, develop, and optimize EDA software solutions for chip, board, and system design applications.
- Translate customer requirements into robust technical implementations in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Perform technical analysis and troubleshooting to resolve complex design challenges.
- Contribute to architecture discussions, code reviews, and improvement of development practices.
- Mentor junior engineers and share technical expertise across the team.
- Participate in agile development cycles and deliver high-quality software on schedule.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate contribution.
- Proven proficiency in C and C++ (majority work in C).
- Experience using Visual Studio.
- Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
- Understanding of modeling or mathematical modeling techniques.
- Experience developing and maintaining complex software architectures and algorithms.
- 5+ years professional experience in EDA software development or a related engineering domain.
Nice-to-have:
- Knowledge of circuit analysis, algebra, and calculus.
- VHDL-AMS or Verilog-AMS experience.
- Bash scripting and Java.
- Familiarity with EDA products, objects, and development principles.
Education Requirements
PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field; or equivalent professional experience.
